Job Description

The role of the Chief Architect within DXC is a senior technical leadership role that acts as a ‘trusted advisor’ to both the account teams and clients that they engage with. It requires a wide portfolio of multi-disciplinary technical and business focused skills and commerical acumen. The Chief Architect should have a good understanding of their client’s business in order to understand the business impacts of technological proposals or changes that impact the environment.

Services into the client are provided by a diverse range of capabilities both locally and offshore from different parts of the DXC business. The ability to lead and influence these groups in order to ensure the best possible outcome for both the account team and client, along with the ability to manage and meet the demands of multiple stakeholders both internally and externally are key factors to being successful in this role.

  • Accountable for the design of services into the account. (Key Design Authority)
  • Sets the disciplines to be applied to ensure services are designed to run and meet all SLA/KPI/performance targets.
  • Provides overall technical guidance for the client’s environment via Account Technical Blueprint.
  • Typically interacts with the client’s CTO to align the client’s and HP’s technical roadmaps.


Primarily from a technical background with 10 or more years of industry experience spanning operational, project delivery and either solutions or infrastructure architecture with strong business and commercial acumen.  General proficiency is required in the following Technologies (may specialize in several)

  • Platforms / OS: Windows, UNIX, Virtualization, Cloud;
  • storage: Leveraged Storage, BUR;
  • application / Middleware: Database, Web, Messaging, Active Directory;
  • communications : Networking, firewalls, load balancers;
  • Security.

Business skills

  • Portfolio knowledge (Workplace, Data Center, Managed Storage, Global Network, Security);
  • processes knowledge: Engineering QMS;
  • Project Management.

Leadership Abilities

  • Relationship management and strong communication skills;
  • Resource Management.

Financial Management


  • Industry experience obtained within assigned industry is desirable


  • Single point of contact for escalation and resolution of engineering issues or technical delivery on behalf of Account team
  • represent the account in all technical aspects of the engineering delivery life-cycle (architecture-production)
  • assist account team and client with Standard & Non-Standard Service Requests as appropriate
  • identify and sponsor activities to improve services that result in increased leveragability of services, improved quality or cost reduction for both DXC and the client
  • Work with PMO to establish pipeline view to ensure adequate visibility of engineering resource requirements by local engineering and delivery teams
  • Leverage portfolio and other capabilities where appropriate to support new capability requests from account team or client
  • Know and understand the technologies in use at that account and how those technologies interrelate and maintain, as appropriate, roadmaps for the technologies in use at the account
  • Ensure all solution/design proposals adhere to capability standards, GE-QMS process and artifact requirements
  • Ensure that processes are in place to support that solution ‘as-built’ documentation matches design documentation
  • Foster communication and team work across all technical workgroups and DXC business units promoting the ‘single pane of glass’ view for the client on DXC capabilities and services
  • Provide innovation by making recommendations that demonstrate an understanding of the account and client business model/drivers/needs
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies in the industry and the technology direction of DXC
  • Engage with other DXC business units and partners in order to assist with innovation and develop relationships
  • Mentoring of other technical resources into the architectural profession or ‘Office of the Chief Engineer’ as appropriate


DXC is an Open Group sponsor and strongly promotes architectural certifications for this role.  The following architectural certifications are desirable. If the successful applicant does not already hold these then they will be encouraged to pursue these certifications once employed:

  • The Open Group Open CA architectural certification
  • TOGAF Certified
