Robert Half is currently seeking a Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. This position is a vital element of the Texas Accounting Team as he or she will contribute to the successful day-to-day operations and long-term growth of Division Accounting overall. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. This candidate will also have the ability to work under tight deadlines and provide a high level of customer service and analytics. This position will be based out of Downtown Houston, Tx. Might have some hybrid capabilities.

As a Accounts Payable Specialist your responsibilities include performing complex accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and control functions with accuracy and timeliness; providing organizational leadership through subject matter expertise; coordinating interaction with other departments and third parties contributing to goal objectives; and playing proactive role as team member, business partner, and change agent. Working hours are generally heavier during the five business days surrounding the month-end close.

Role & Responsibilities

+ Matching, Batching, Coding, and entering invoices

+ Posting and Reconciling Batches

+ Researching and resolving exceptions

+ Updating and reconciling the sub-ledger to the General Ledger

+ Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

+ Utilizing V-Lookups and Pivot Tables in a recent version of Excel.

Requirements

Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance or related qualification

3+ years relevant and progressive accounting experience

Public industry experience preferred

CPA/MBA preferred

Knowledge:

Familiarity with GAAP and SAP or other major ERP system

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and accounting software

General Skills / Attributes:

Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities and manage time effectively

Attention to detail, high degree of integrity, work ethic, and professionalism

Good verbal and written communication skills
