Description This reputable company is seeking a Controller through Robert Half who has a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Hood River, Oregon area.

What you get to do every single day

– Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

– Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

– Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

– Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations

– Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

– Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

– Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

– Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

– Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

– Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

– Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties Requirements – Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

– Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

– Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

– Sound written and verbal communication skills

– BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

– Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

– Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

– Ability to meet deadlines

– Be detailed, flexible, and organized

– 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

– Consolidated Financial experience

– General familiarity with external reporting

– Logistics & distribution experience preferred

– Deep understanding of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)

– Demonstrated knowledge of Audited Financial Statements

– Background working with CPA

– Expertise in CPG

– Multiple Entities experience highly preferred

– Practical knowledge of month end closings

– Adeptness in Complex Financial Analysis

– SAP experience desired

– Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

– Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
