This position is responsible for performing financial reporting related to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position is also accountable for the successful execution of external financial audits. Ensures financial database accuracy and output. Applies computer skills at full proficiency level to analyze and resolve nonstandard accounting transactions and build an accurate and integrated database that can accurately reflect financial measurements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Develop and update general ledger databases for multiple communities. Computerize standardized basic financial reports. Deliver computerized sub ledgers by maintaining updated and accurate general ledger databases. Account coding, proper authorization, and adherence to company policies. Detailed involvement with budget database, and financial data output. Support entry level accounting processes. Support the annual Budget process. Support preparation of tax returns, including 1099, property tax and sales tax, as needed on a timely and accurate basis. Support the analysis of monthly budget variances and report the results to senior management. Prepare the necessary reports and schedules and work closely with audit staff to facilitate the successful completion of periodic audits and examinations by outside parties. Devise and recommend appropriate models, systems and/or procedures to provide complete, accurate, and timely reports. Communicate work status and results through verbal and written reports to Management, community personnel, regulators, investors, and other internal and external constituents as necessary. Recognize and observe all company and departmental policies and procedures. Focus on achieving departmental and organizational objectives. Maintain detail oriented appearance by complying with dress code in an appropriate manner. Comply with company policies and procedures, which includes punctuality as relates to work time, lunch, and break periods.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist other community or Accounting/Finance Department personnel as time is available. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Maintain detail oriented affiliations and enhance detail oriented growth and development by staying current with regulatory changes and best practices in accounting, tax, and auditing.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance required. Two to four years of relevant accounting, auditing or financial reporting experience required.
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Ability to establish positive relationships and work effectively with all internal and external constituencies Skill in making presentations to a variety of audiences and able to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively to executives, accountants, consultants, regulators, etc. Able to quickly assess and assimilate information and data and to think conceptually Initiative and self-direction to meet strict and frequent deadlines Excellent verbal and written communication skills High level of computer literacy, including spreadsheet and database development and usage (Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency required) Proven ability to identify and solve problems Strong attention to details Thoroughness, Knowledge, understanding and application of Generally Accepted Auditing
