Job Description

Description The network architect’s main function is to plan and oversee the design, installation and management of network & telephony infrastructure. The network architect utilizes network engineers to accomplish these tasks. Experience in Nortel / Avaya / Extreme ERS platform is preferred.

Responsibilities

Network Design and Management – 50% Researches new technology and approaches to improve UC Health network & telephony Develops network & telephony systems to meet enterprise requirements Responsible for design decisions and implementation Regularly reviews network management logs and systems for performance and uptime Reviews design impact post-installation Identifies network & telephony maintenance issues for resolution Insures back up of all network & telephony software and configurations

Problem Identification and Resolution: – 20% Coordinates the process to isolate any network or telephony problems Evaluates impact of each step through problem management Communicates regularly with management and Help Desk throughout an issue Reviews logs and monitors Responds to alerts from network management Opens and works through calls in network & telephony vendor’s technical support

Administration: – 15% Prepares equipment lists for quotation Attends staff meetings Participates in PMO process, attends project team meetings, create time sheets Leads projects as assigned by the Manager of Network Services Works with other IS& T departments and vendor to develop designs Works with plant managers to coordinate network installation with their projects Reviews designs and equipment lists from engineers and analysts

Documentation: – 10% Opens and closes service calls in a timely manner Is responsible for changes to the IP scheme for the UC Health Enterprise Creates and maintains network drawings in approved graphics software Provides research documentation in staff meetings for discussion Participates in policy development Participates in development of network maintenance project list Provides reports to management on network health

Other duties as assigned: – 5% | Review the physical demands and assign an overall average percentage of time this position performs these activities. These physical demands will not be listed or rated on the annual performance appraisal. Climbing:
