Hybrid position available! A firm based in Moonachie, NJ is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team on a contract to full-time basis. The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller, and will be tasked with routine corporate accounting tasks including supporting the monthly close cycle, preparing journal entries (accruals, prepaids, adjusting entries), budgeting/forecasting activities, variance analysis, balance sheet account reconciliations, and maintaining internal controls. The ideal Senior Accountant will have recent experience working in an inventory based industry (manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, retail, etc.), and will have been hands-on with inventory accounting/analysis, gross margin analysis, and accounting for service contracts. Proficiency with US GAAP, SAP, and Excel (advanced skills) are all strongly preferred.

Requirements

– Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must

– Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

– Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

– Skilled with ERP systems – SAP or similar preferred

– Inventory analysis experience

– General familiarity with account reconciliations

– Knowledge of Gross Margin Analysis

– Adeptness in Inventory Reserves and Inventory Reconciliation

– Experience with Monthly Close Processes

– Practical knowledge of Balance Sheet Reconciliation

– Journal entries experience

– Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

– Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

– A strong track record of communicating, both verbally and in writing, with functional department managers

– Outstanding skills in analyzing financial data and promptly generating accurate reports

– BA/BS in Accounting

– Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
