Within an innovative company, there’s currently a permanent position open for an experienced Senior Accountant in the Detroit Michigan area. As a Senior Accountant, your duties will include financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. This Senior Accountant role is with a company in the Utilities/Infrastructure field and is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

How you will make an impact

– Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions

– Delegate resources to Ad-hoc projects as necessary

– Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations

– Produce monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management purposes

– Apply oneself to various department-wide initiatives

– Contribute to coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

– Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP

– Prepare financial analysis on trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc.

– Successfully collaborate with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, controls and provide support on special requests when necessary

Requirements – Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills

– Month-end Close Activities experience

– Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation experience highly desired

– Solid understanding of general ledger

– Well-founded grasp of Microsoft Excel

– Month-end Journal Entries experience

– Proven knowledge of SAP FICO

– Month-end Financial experience

– Knowledgeable of ERP systems

– 3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

– SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus

– Excellent attention to detail

– Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

– Skill with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

– Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing

– Engages effectively in self-directed time management and prioritization of workload

– Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

– Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

– BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

– Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
