The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. You will have responsibility for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will promote the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. Major responsibilities

The position is responsible for, but not limited to, performing acquisition and retirement of assets, building/maintaining asset records, recording depreciation/amortization, records other journal entries

Accounting experience within AP, or Fixed Assets plus experience posting journal entries to the general ledger

Establishing depreciation rates and groups for assets, and recording the depreciation/amortization expenses

Preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports

Responsible for recording and retiring assets, maintaining a detailed listing of all asset activity

Processes monthly depreciation and amortization for all depreciable assets

Prepares both routine and ad hoc reports and data exports for internal Finance users as well as operations and management

Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner

Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments

Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision

Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed

Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management

Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

Requirements

Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Competent with spreadsheets and databases

Experience with ERP systems

Journal entries experience

Fixed Asset Ledger experience

Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills

Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Fixed Asset Accounting experience

Strong familiarity with journal entries

Account reconciliation experience

Leases experience

Fully formed organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

Proficient in MS Office, with emphasis in Excel

Experience with SAP or similar platforms
