Job Description & Summary

Global IT - PWC IT is responsible for the success of our central technology efforts in our federated business model.

PwC IT Services professionals are accountable for managing the processes, operations, finances, infrastructure, compliance and data protection requirements through its operations of the PwC Global Hosting Centres and associated assets. By providing network hosting services for Member Firms of the PwC Network, PwC IT Services is an integral component of the Network IT strategy.

Specialty: Global IT Program - PwC IT Services owns and manages PwC’s three Global Hosting Centers, which provide on-premise hosting services. They manage and support PwC’s global applications (i.e., those applications used by all or most member firms whether they be infrastructure, back office, or front office solutions -- and hosted on premise or in the cloud).

They also manage and operate the PwC Security Operations Centre, which will provide security monitoring services to the entire PwC network on a shared services basis. PWC IT Services also provides hosting and application support services to those member firms that wish to outsource any of their technology operations to a PwC service provider. They have a head office in the UK, subsidiaries in the US and Singapore, and branches in Germany, Romania and the Czech Republic.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Engineer to join our team. As the Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure. You will be a member of a team of cross platform cloud engineers and collaborate with other cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of cloud-based solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud technologies (mainly focused on GCP), excellent communications skills, and a passion for driving innovation.

Knowledge Preferred:

Demonstrated extensive knowledge and/or a proven record of success related to IT operations, infrastructure engineering, and project management engagements in a professional business services environment related to IT Hosting Services:

  • Applying a consultancy mindset as it relates to developing and offering creative and effective solutions to troubleshoot problems and/or business issues;

  • Industry and Firm IT services, emphasizing the understanding of business functions and architecture deployed globally

  • Understanding of Cloud Service Provider offerings; Google Cloud Platform (GCP), but also Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Understanding the expertise required to deliver enterprise-wide services as well as manage the competing demands for IT resources.

Skills Preferred:

Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success related to IT operations, infrastructure engineering, and project management engagements in a professional business services environment related to IT Hosting Services:

  • Operating within an enterprise organization to deliver IT infrastructures emphasizing quality and consistency across all areas that focus on several of the following areas: Cloud Hosting Services including Infrastructure as code, infrastructure operations, software development methodologies and DevOps

  • Technical knowledge of GCP Organization governance, RBAC, permissions, Cloud CLI, Cloud SDK clients and APIs

  • Security mindset - as a member of engineering, it will be your responsibility to ensure security and compliance standards are met.

  • Managing customer requirements, project workflow and preparing or coordinating complex written and verbal materials

  • Contributing to operational initiatives for Cloud Hosting Services, including Servers, PaaS and IaaS, Storage, Development and Tools including national and international locations

  • Displaying strong written and verbal communication skills both in user support and project coordination and, if necessary, following the proper protocol to escalate issues to upper management

  • Utilizing strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, work in a team environment, follow written policies and procedures and maintain superior customer service at all times

  • Assisting internal customers on consuming the Global Cloud Service, including deploying IaaS and PaaS servers and providing guidance on features and functions that have been approved for use

  • Developing continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI\CD) pipelines and consuming custom application programming interfaces (APIs) and providing guidance on features and functions that have been approved for use to assist internal customers on integrating and using the Global Cloud Service

  • Working with team leaders and managers within operations to deliver a consistent and available service

  • Complying with change control processes and adherence to standards and documentation

  • Adapting to rapid changes in order to support and use future technology

  • Complying with all aspects relating to policy and guidelines of the Information Security Policy

  • Overseeing the collation of data and the distribution of daily and monthly operational reports

  • Performing all related job functions following established process and procedures in order to preserve the confidentiality of information from unauthorized disclosure and to protect the integrity of information hosted and managed by the PwC IT Service Co. from unauthorized or accidental modification and protect the accuracy and completeness of this information.

Additional Information

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for assisting project teams with the infrastructure requirements around designing, implementing and troubleshooting mission critical applications in the cloud.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP and how to build, deploy and integrate applications using PaaS and IaaS services. The team of engineers will provide the technology and processes to deliver a 24/7/365 service that meets the published SLA.
