Job Description: Data Governance Consultant

Base Location: Gurgaon

Responsibilities:

Should be an expert on organizational information and governing enterprise data assets. Should have accountability for organization’s overall data and reporting process by responsibly managing assets for clients. Their responsibilities will include:

  • Should have good knowledge and worked on insurance domain
  • Work with business, technology, and process work streams to govern the data identification, data definition, data classification, data propagation and data traceability across the systems/functions/line of business.
  • Excellent Understanding of all aspects of data governance – catalog, lineage, metadata management, data transformation etc., and understand business processes to provide insights.
  • Should have good understanding and hands-on experience on end-to-end data flows/data lineage (able to capture data transformations, create lineage views) and identifying data dependencies in support of delivery, release, and change management.
  • Should have hands-on experience on the entire data life cycle and build a governance regime with focus on protection and privacy controls across the stages.
  • Responsible for defining and maintaining standards and best practices for data life cycle management along with integration in other data management tools.
  • Should have ownership on the data quality improvement initiatives by leading combined teams of technical, business and quality analysts to ensure data accuracy, uniqueness, validity, and completeness.
  • Should understand business domain, data definitions, technical & operational metadata and able to document and maintain data dictionary, data quality definitions and usage at the concept and data element level.
  • Drive implementation of data governance initiatives such as data governance awareness and adoption program, perform implementation for various data governance pillars such as business glossary implementation, data access management etc.
  • Guide and support requirements and testing of data quality initiatives, masking strategies, test cases.
  • Identify new opportunities pertaining to the use of information assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the marketplace (Data as the end product) / represent data as a strategic business asset.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience with more than 3 years in data governance expert role.
  • Bachelor's/master’s in computer science/IT or similar discipline.
  • Good knowledge of the Insurance and/or Financial Services industry domain and related products is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge on Data Governance concepts including program/project management, change management, data quality, metadata management, data security, access, and data lineage.
  • Experience in Collibra DIC in data management, metadata management, creation of assets, data classification, data lineages, able to capture end-to-end transformations (or similar cataloging tool technologies) for implementation and integration.
  • Experience using agile project management tool such as Jira.
  • Experience with working with various stakeholders across the organization, internal and external stakeholders including vendors and subcontractors.
  • Effective communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Should have exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to handle complex projects in a multi-tasking and multi-client environment and meet deadlines while delivering high quality results.
